I am the mom to six kids- which is a big reason that I create and sew. I find that I am happiest when I am making things, and taking time to be happy makes me a better mom.

Strawberries are always so happy!
This Strawberry Springtime mini quilt is still one of my favorites! I just love how it looks styled with my Juicy Berries!
Perfect for spring.
I’m super curious- now that Easter is over, what do you decorate your house with? Spring decor, or just your everyday decorations without the seasonal extras? I’m planning on adding some faux florals here and there for a bit of color, and I’m trying to decide if I leave out the bunnies for a while? Hmmm… I’d love your thoughts!

And I’m a firm believer in finding the good in every day, even if you have to make it yourself.
Just like brushing your teeth and exercising are good for you- so is creativity! What would your life look like if you made time for being creative, just like you make time to brush your teeth?

I’m working on a new flower pattern today, so I thought I would throw it back to my Flower Circle Table Topper in rainbow colors.

There have been lots of carrots in my life lately.
From the carrot mini quilt for my membership to carrot garlands and kits.
I don’t know what it is- the happy orange color, or what but they just make me happy!
I still have kits for the stuffed carrots- one kit will make 15 mini or 5 medium carrots.

I love scrappy sewing, especially when it takes small leftover bits and turns them into something useful.
Mug rugs are my typical go to for scrappy sewing (swipe for some of my favorites) but this rainbow heart quilt is my favorite scrappy finish!

This little guy right here is why I quilt.
During nap time, in a particularly rough season after my sixth baby was born I sewed these little heart blocks into a mini quilt.
I held up the finished quilt top and thought to myself “I LOVE it!”
In that instant a piece of me fell back into place. A piece I didn’t even know was out of alignment. It was a piece of Amy. Not Mom, not house keeper, not anything to anyone else. Just a little bit of ME.
And I have clung to that piece, and added to it ever since.
That’s why I quilt. (And embroider, and appliqué, and paint…)

#igquiltfest2024 day 2 is first quilt. This is the first quilt I ever free motion quilted. It’s a shower curtain I found at a yard sale.
It’s a mess. So much eyelashing, irregular stitches and floating bobbin threads.
But, my daughter loved it and I loved trying something new.
I’d you scroll through to the end of the carousel you can see one of the most recent things I’ve quilted.
The moral of the story- let yourself be bad at it. Have fun. And keep trying. There’s nowhere to go but up!

No one likes a lumpy project, unless you’re maki

No one likes a lumpy project, unless you’re making a potato or something bumpy, in which case- have at it!

But, if a smooth even finish for your stuffed sewing project is what you’re looking for, I have some tips for you.

#1- start with small pieces of stuffing. They are easier to get into your project and easier to blend together.
#2- Fluff your stuffing. Make sure there are no clumps or thick lumps.
#3- Don’t cram in the first few layers of stuffing. It makes it easier to bring in the next layer around the edges of the first layer if you let it breathe a little.
#4- Push your second (and third…) layers of stuffing around and into the previous layers. You want to have them all blend and mesh together so you don’t end up with valleys between the layers.
